due to the recent outbreak of covid-19 in Kent county, staff is making the following procedural changes in order to protect the public and staff:
CONSTRUCTION REINSTATED: The Governor’s most recent amendment of the Executive “Stay Home Stay Safe” Order permits construction to begin Thursday, May 7th. In response, the Township will resume inspections Monday-Thursdays. To arrange an inspection on an approved and issued building permit, please call 616-364-1190 or follow this link to submit an online request. If leaving a voicemail, please provide the following info: contact name, contact number and email address, type of inspection, job address, preferred date of inspection, and any other notes the inspector may need.
PLEASE BE ADVISED: The Township is expecting a significant volume of inspection requests in the first weeks following construction reinstatement. Accordingly, there may be a delay in inspection scheduling.
SAFETY: Permit holders must ensure that job sites are accessible to inspectors and that all “social distancing” guidelines are met. Failure to provide a safe environment will result in a disapproval and require a reinspection. During an inspection, only required personnel should be on-site. For jobs in an occupied home, no inspections can be scheduled where an occupant is sick, has been exposed to the virus or under quarantine.
Thanks for helping keep us all safe while we perform the required inspections!
Issuing Building Permits:
The review and issuance of building permit applications received since the initial stay home order in March are just beginning. Please be patient as staff works through a two month backlog of applications.
Building Permit Applications:
If you would like to submit an application , please email applications, plans and other documents to: email@example.com and they will be reviewed and processed in the order in which they were received.
