Planning to Replace a Water Heater, Furnace or Other Mechanical Equipment?

Water heater furnace

Does your summer to-do list include replacing any plumbing, electrical or mechanical equipment in your home?

Any time you replace this equipment in your home you are required to make sure a permit and inspection are part of the installation. This ensures new equipment, such as a water heater or furnace, is safe and in compliance with the most up-to-date code requirements.

Before signing a contract to have these items replaced, residents must confirm the contractor will obtain the necessary permits and coordinate inspection upon completion of the work. Inspections take approximately 10 minutes and cover important safety items such as gas piping, venting and combustion air requirements.

Plainfield has partnered with Cascade Township since 2012 to issue permits and conduct inspections for the installation of new or replacement plumbing, electrical and mechanical equipment.
