Parks & Recreation Committee to Host Open House on Dec. 10

The Parks and Recreation Committee invites the public to an open house on Dec. 10th to visit anytime from 5-6:30 p.m. in the board room of the Plainfield Township offices to review proposed projects in its draft five-year master plan being prepared for 2020-2025.

Residents will have the opportunity to view, ask questions and provide additional input on the draft master plan, which helps define Township priorities for current and future parks and recreation needs. The master plan is focused on improvements to Grand Rogue Park such as: fishing piers, picnic shelters, kayak and canoe launches and a scenic overlook of the Grand River. It will also focus on the expansion of the Township’s non-motorized paths and trails.

In September, The Township gathered public feedback from an online survey to help shape current, potential and future parks and recreation projects. Results from the survey showed residents wanted more opportunities for canoeing and kayaking, access to the lake between Grand Rogue and Grand Isle parks and development of an extensive hiking trail network in Plainfield Township.
The Parks and Recreation Committee leads this process every five years. Past master plans have led to the Jupiter Trail, access to the Grand and Rogue rivers and acquiring new park space.
