How to Register to Vote for the August Primary Election

Planning to cast a ballot in the Aug. 2 primary election but not registered to vote in the Township?

Plainfield residents eligible to register to vote for the August primary may do so:
  • Online at the Michigan Voter Information Center website by July 18.
  • Via mail by printing and filling out a voter registration application and sending it to the Plainfield Township Clerk’s Office, 6161 Belmont Ave. NE, Belmont, Michigan, 49306. The application must be postmarked by July 18 for the August primary.

After July 18, voter registration for the August primary can only be done in person at the Township Clerk’s Office 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7:30-11:30 a.m. Friday and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 2 (Election Day). Proof of residency, such as a driver’s license, state ID or utility bill, is required.

The Aug. 2 state primary election will determine which candidates will represent their political parties in the Nov. 8 general election. The ballot will include U.S. representative, governor, state senator and representative, county commissioner and two county millage proposals.
