The Plainfield Township Board of Trustees has awarded this year's final water main extension contract to CL Trucking and Excavating.

CL Trucking and Excavating’s bid was $1.8 million for the project, which will extend the Township’s municipal water to several surrounding neighborhoods off 11 Mile Road and Algoma Avenue between 10 Mile Road and the Rogue River. It  is part of the settlement with Wolverine Worldwide over its contamination of groundwater with the chemical family known as PFAS.

The project – approved during the Board’s April 25 meeting – will connect approximately 100 homes and numerous commercial properties to the Township’s municipal water system. Construction is expected to begin in July and will likely carryover into the spring of 2023.

Once CL Trucking and Excavating submits a detailed construction schedule, a letter will be mailed to residents and businesses who will be impacted by the work. The letter will provide the anticipated construction schedule and detailed instructions for the work on each private property to make final connections.

Overall, approximately 300 homes will be connected to the Township’s municipal water supply this year as part of the settlement. Other major projects planned for this year include a new water main on Pine Island Drive between Six Mile and Seven Mile roads and in the Woodwater neighborhood.

Updates on these and future projects will be available at preinnewhof.com/construction-updates.
