Township Board Expands the Role of Community Center Committee

To continue moving the Community Center projects forward, the Board expanded the role of the Community Center Advisory Committee to provide input on the design and architecture of the new facility and to continue seeking public feedback on a new facility.

Separately, Trustees decided to table a request to fund the full schematic design process until their next meeting on Monday, Sept. 9 so that they can seek additional information on potential funding strategies for the facility. This schematic design process lays out more specific details of the facility such as floor plans, exterior renderings, site plans and specific building specs for the facility.

Since February, the Committee has been visiting other community and senior centers, developing design statements, seeking public feedback and developing a conceptual design for the facility.

The Committee is comprised of five residents of Plainfield Township who have an interest in the Community Center, along with the senior program coordinator, three Township Board members, a representative from Northview Public Schools and Township Superintendent Cameron Van Wyngarden.

We want to thank the committee for all its hard work. Your knowledge, time and commitment to this process are greatly appreciated. To view the Community Center Advisory Committee report, click here.
