Property Taxes: Winter Due Date, How to Pay and What They Fund

The Township sent out winter property tax bills Dec. 1 – and they are due no later than Feb. 14.

Residents can pay online, by mail or phone, in person or by leaving payments in the secure 24/7 drop box located in front of Township Hall. For more information on how to make a payment, click here.

Ever wonder where your taxes go? Under Michigan law, the Township collects taxes on behalf of other taxing jurisdictions and distributes them. The majority of property taxes paid by Township residents help fund schools, county services and Kent District Library.

Only 13% of your tax payment stays with Plainfield Township to fund local road repairs, law enforcement, fire protection, parks and other Township services. Below is a breakdown of how property taxes are distributed.
