Community members can now enjoy Plainfield Township’s new Rockford Trail, which, extends 2 miles along Kuttshill Drive, Brewer Avenue and Kroes Street from Rogue River Road to Jericho Road.

The project was funded by the trails millage approved by Plainfield voters in 2016. The Township’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee plans to expand the trail north along Jericho Avenue from Kroes Street to Rockford city limits when funds become available next year or 2023.

Future trail projects include the Rogue River Road Trail that would stretch along Rogue River Road from Jupiter Avenue east to Kuttshill Drive and the North Grand River Trail that would connect the White Pine Trail near Samrick Avenue and West River Drive to Northland Drive near Versluis Park.

The Jupiter Trail – completed in 2019 – was the first major project funded by the Township's trails millage. The 2-mile trail runs along Jupiter Avenue from Plainfield Avenue to the White Pine Trail.

Another smaller trail project came in 2018 when the first portion of the 10 Mile Trail was created as part of the Kent County Road Commission’s work to construct the Belmont Bypass. The trail runs along the Belmont Bypass from Belmont Avenue to 10 Mile Road. The Township plans to extend the trail east along 10 Mile Road past Premier Park when funds are available.
