Board of Trustees Expands Partnership with Cascade Township to Provide Building Services For Property Owners
Starting in January, Cascade Township will provide all building services for Plainfield Township – a move that will reduce wait times and offer more resources for residents and builders at a lower cost to the community.
The Plainfield Township Board of Trustees approved the service agreement on Oct. 25, following Cascade Township Board’s approval on Oct. 13.
Beginning Jan. 3, 2022, residents and builders who need to schedule a project plan review or inspection or apply for a building permit will contact Cascade Township by visiting its website, calling 616.949.3765 or visiting Cascade Township Hall, 5920 Tahoe Drive SE. Additionally, staff of the building department will hold weekly office hours at Plainfield Township Hall for residents and builders to meet with an inspector.
Cascade Township’s 14-member building department will be able to serve residents and builders more quickly and efficiently, resulting in shorter wait times for plan reviews and permits at a reduced cost to Plainfield Township applicants.
Builders can expect a letter from Plainfield Township staff by early December notifying them of this change and how to connect with Cascade Township. Residents will be notified of this change in the Township’s next printed newsletter, which is included with winter tax bills and will be mailed Dec. 1.
Since 2012, Plainfield Township has successfully partnered with Cascade Township to issue permits and conduct inspections for the installation of new or replacement plumbing and electrical and mechanical equipment at residences and businesses in Plainfield. These services will continue to be provided by Cascade Township.
