Board Supports Reimagine Plainfield With Moratorium Extension
The Plainfield Township Board has extended the moratorium on new one-story buildings along Plainfield Avenue through Dec. 31 to allow the Planning Commission additional time to prepare zoning language to support the new Reimagine Plainfield plan.
The Board’s action came during its Oct. 11 meeting and followed a previous extension of the moratorium, which was set to expire at month’s end.
The moratorium applies to commercially zoned parcels along Plainfield Avenue from Four Mile Road to Northland Drive. It prevents any new development plans for single-story buildings from moving forward during this time. However, the moratorium does not apply to multi-story development proposals or current businesses that wish to expand or remodel their existing buildings.
The Reimagine Plainfield initiative is working to ensure the future of the Plainfield corridor represents the values and vision of the community by promoting vitality for residents and business owners.
