Plainfield Township Water Department Superintendent Donald Petrovich was named 2020 Administrator of the Year at this year’s Michigan Rural Water Association conference.

The award is given to water plant staff who have significant accomplishments that address their community’s concerns and demonstrate leadership and involvement in the Michigan Rural Water Association, or MRWA.

“I am honored to receive this award from the MRWA, which I accept on behalf of our entire Water Plant staff,” Petrovich said. “It is an absolute pleasure to be part of such a talented team that works tirelessly to provide safe drinking water to our customers. Each and every one of our employees is deserving of this award.”

The Township’s Water Department is committed to providing superior quality water. As part of this commitment, the Township’s municipal water recently was tested for 180 types of synthetic organic compounds, with a non-detect result for every type.

The department this year also completed replacing filter materials in its final two filters with granular activated carbon, which has been proven to be highly effective in eliminating PFAS, bacteria, pathogens and other undesirable elements from drinking water.

The MRWA provides water and wastewater utility members with resources, education and networking opportunities in order to enhance the quality of services to customers across Michigan.
