Township Continues Design Plans for Proposed Community Center
Plainfield Township will continue its work on the conceptual design of a proposed Community Center on the campus of the Belmont YMCA.
The Township’s Board of Trustees approved this next phase at its July 12 meeting following an update from staff on the facility’s draft floor plan. The updated floor plan considers the new site location and reflects the work by the Township’s Community Center Advisory Committee, which identified the initial design for the facility to meet the community’s needs.
The Township will continue to work with local architectural firm Fishbeck on plans for the multi-use facility, which will feature a walking track, banquet area, flexible meeting spaces for a variety of classes, a demonstration kitchen, areas for Senior Citizens programming, fitness classrooms and a gymnasium.
The Township Board is expected to consider language for a November ballot millage proposal to finance the facility’s construction along with additional information at its July 26 meeting.
