Property Taxes: Summer Due Dates, How to Pay and What They Fund
The Township will begin to send out summer property tax bills July 1, and they are due no later than Sept. 14.
Residents can pay online, leave payments in the secure 24/7 drop box located in front of the Township offices, pay by phone or in person. For more information on how to make a payment, click here.
Ever wonder where your taxes go? Under Michigan law, the Township collects taxes on behalf of other taxing jurisdictions and distributes them. The majority of property taxes paid by Township residents help fund schools, county services and the Kent District Library.
Only 13% of your tax payment stays with Plainfield Township to fund local road repairs, law enforcement, fire protection, parks and other Township services. Below is a breakdown of how property taxes are distributed.
