2021 PFAS water main extention construction

As part of the settlement with Wolverine Worldwide, the Plainfield Township Board of Trustees awarded a contract to Wyoming Excavators of Ada for the Belmont Avenue and Van Dam Drive area in Plainfield Township.

Additionally, work is progressing at the Wolven Avenue and 11 Mile Road area in Algoma Township.

Belmont Avenue and Van Dam Drive

Wyoming Excavators’ bid of $1.8 million was selected during the board’s April 12 meeting. The project will connect approximately 70 homes currently impacted by PFAS in their well water to Plainfield’s municipal water system. Construction will begin this spring.

Once Wyoming Excavators submits a detailed construction schedule, a letter will be mailed to residents and businesses who will be impacted by the work. The letter will provide the anticipated construction schedule and detailed instructions for the work on each private property to make the final connections.

This is the third of four water main extension projects planned for 2021.

Wolven Avenue and 11 Mile Road

Water main construction is completed on Windstone Drive in the southern area of the neighborhood. The water main will be tested the week of April 19 and disinfected before water services can be installed.

Construction and tree clearing on Wolven Avenue at 10 Mile Road will continue to move from south to north. Crews will only remove trees necessary to safely install the water main.
