Versluis Park Closed This Month for Maintenance
Versluis Park is closed this month for maintenance to prepare the park for beach season.
In addition to general park cleanup, the Township’s Buildings and Grounds staff will clean and inspect playground equipment, prepare volleyball courts, inspect and, if needed, repair the boardwalk structure and clean the restrooms to get the park ready for the upcoming season.
Once reopened in May, the park will be free to visitors and the beach will be “swim at your own risk,” which is consistent with most inland lakes in Kent County and many beaches along Lake Michigan. The changes will extend the beach season – it previously closed in mid-August due to limited lifeguard staffing. Without a hard closing date, residents now can enjoy the beach much later in the season. More information on updated hours will be announced at a later date.
Versluis Park features a beach, swimming area, fishing pier and boating opportunities on a 50-acre lake. Other park amenities include playground areas, picnic facilities, horseshoe and volleyball courts, restrooms and a 1-mile paved walking trail.
