Board Members Select Bid for Second 2021 Water Main Extension Project
Updates on these and future projects will be available at preinnewhof.com/construction-updates.
As part of the settlement with Wolverine Worldwide, the Plainfield Township Board of Trustees awarded a contract to CL Trucking and Excavating of Ionia for the second of four water main extension projects to be completed in 2021.
CL Trucking and Excavating’s low bid of $1.8 million for the project on Herrington Avenue, Meek Drive, Pine Hill Drive and adjacent areas in Plainfield Township was approved during the board’s Feb. 22 meeting. The project will connect approximately 60 homes currently impacted by PFAS in their well water to Plainfield’s municipal water system. Construction will begin in the spring.
Once CL Trucking and Excavating submits a detailed construction schedule, a letter will be mailed to residents and businesses who will be impacted by the work. The letter will provide the anticipated construction schedule and detailed instructions for the work on each private property to make the final connections.
Other water settlement projects scheduled to be completed in 2021 include Belmont Avenue, Van Dam Drive and Packer Drive in Plainfield Township. Bids for those projects are expected to be received in March. Board members previously approved a $2.7 million bid for the Wolven Avenue and 11 Mile Road area of Algoma Township in December 2020.
