Board of Trustees to Consider First Bids for 2021 Water Main Extension Monday
On Monday, Nov. 30, the Plainfield Township Board of Trustees will consider the first bids for the 2021 water main extension projects for the Wolven Avenue and 11 Mile Road area in Algoma Township.
As part of the Wolverine Worldwide settlement, the Township advertised the project in October and contractors had until Nov. 10 to submit bids. The 11 bids ranged from $2.7 million to $3.5 million and were reviewed by Township staff and its engineering firm Prein & Newhof. The low bid of $2.7 million by Dykema Excavators, Inc. of Grand Rapids will be recommended to the board. This will connect approximately 75 additional homes to Plainfield’s municipal water system.
Once the selected contractor submits a detailed construction schedule, a letter will be mailed to residents and businesses who will be impacted by the work. The letter will provide the anticipated construction schedule and detailed instructions for the work on each private property to make the final connections. Construction is likely to begin in the spring.
Other water settlement projects scheduled to be completed in 2021 include Belmont Avenue, Van Dam Drive, Packer Drive and Herrington Avenue south of Chandler Drive in Plainfield Township. Bids for those projects are expected to be advertised in early 2021.
Updates on these and future projects will be available at preinnewhof.com/construction-updates.
